BEFORE THE ONSITE VISIT

Bring a clearer brief.

A few observations help us understand your project. You do not need to do demolition or excavation to prepare.

Planning a driveway replacement

Note approximate dimensions, whether the footprint will change, and where vehicles can park during the work. Point out the public approach, sidewalk, drainage paths and adjoining surfaces. Ask the bid to separate removal, base preparation, materials, finish and disposal. Follow the agreed curing instructions before using the new concrete.

Concrete scope & curing FAQs

Grading and drainage questions

Describe where water enters, where it collects and how the space is used. Rainfall photos and an existing survey can help at the visit. Identify known drains, irrigation, boundaries and nearby foundations. Surface grading may be only part of the answer; drainage or engineering needs must be assessed separately. Do not start digging before utility locating and required approvals.

Grading scope & drainage caveats

Preparing for demolition or haul-off

List what must go and what must stay, with approximate quantities and the loading route. Identify occupied areas, utilities and known hazards. Keep unknown liquids, chemicals, batteries, asbestos and other hazardous materials out of the haul-off pile. Confirm permits, disconnections, accepted materials and disposal before affected work.

Demolition scope · Material exclusions
